Wow! Has it been nearly four months since our last email? This has really been an unusual year in so many ways. All of us at Christian Heritage are still disappointed that we were not able to see everyone at the Spring Conference, but we are encouraged by the ways the Lord continues to lead and guide the organization.
While we have not been holding in-person events, we have been working hard to provide much needed guidance and encouragement to new-to-homeschooling families. As I am sure you are aware, many families have been thrust into an unfamiliar environment for which they were and unprepared regarding the education of their children. This has generated a huge increase in ‘Contact us’ emails, phone calls and website traffic. Our team has been working diligently to respond to these inquiries.
We have made steps toward updating our website to include resources for those just starting out as well as an FAQ page. Our Parent Qualifying Course, something we have offered for many years now, has recently seen a big increase in registrations! Typically, we have 40-50 registrants per year, but this year we have already had over 130! That means 130 families brand new to homeschooling in Washington have received some wonderful helps and guidance through the course.
The massive increases in families keeping their children home with them for schooling has raised homeschooling to a new heightened level of awareness. While some may see this as a negative thing, we don’t think so. We are excited to have the opportunity to minster to the needs of the growing homeschool community.
However, this increased awareness has brought with it an increased intensity from the enemies of homeschooling and enemies of the family. We are working on a state level as well as a national level to combat these enemies and are hopeful because we know the Lord is on our side! There is a concerted effort being made to have a unified voice in defense of the family and homeschooling.
We are not fearful but hopeful, for we know the Lord goes before us. We are convinced and convicted of the truth in God’s word. If you are needing help or would like to talk to someone, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We would love to connect with you.
