General Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for CH’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.
Leadership over the staff and CH operations

Administrative Responsibilities

- Manages organization accounts, memberships, and affiliations, including but not limited to:
- Physical Mailbox
- Alliance (The National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership)
- HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association)
Maintains organization’s non-profit status with the State of WA

- Annual report to Secretary of State
- Officer designation
- Ensure CH operation within 501(c)(3) guidelines
Strategic Plan Design and Development Based on Board’s Goals and Objectives

- Converts mission and vision statements into actionable items
- Identifies gaps in homeschool resources and fills them
- Initiates ideas based on vision and mission statement
- Personally invests in the vision and success of CH’s future
Policy Adherence

- Develops temporary guidelines with President where policy is not defined
- Assists board in drafting new policies when needed
- Ensures staff and volunteers adhere to organization policies; maintains accountability
Homeschooling Movement Involvement

- Attends national/regional events
- Understands the times
- Has and develops answers for current/past homeschool-related issues when engaged in-person.
- Familiar with legal/political situation in Washington and US
- Networks with other leaders (official and otherwise) of the homeschooling movement locally and nationally
Financial Oversight

- Understands CH’s financial assets, income sources, and expenditures
- Influences pricing for events/products/services based on long-term vision
- Reviews and approves the budget before submission to the Board for review
- Reviews all financial reports from Financial Director/Treasurer before monthly board meeting
- Provides oversight for the Donor Relation Plan
Human Resources

- Aware of all incoming staff (preferably having participated in interview process) to make recommendations to their supervising executive staff
- Provides direction and oversight to other directors
- Maintains a current org chart
- Motivates and mentors staff/volunteers/members through:
- Monthly staff meetings
- Weekly executive staff meetings
- Bi-annual letters of appreciation to staff/volunteers
- Quarterly motivational letter to members
Delivers Executive Report at Board Meetings

- Attends all board meetings
- Reports on the work of the executive staff, including but not limited to:
- Admin
- Events
- Financial
- Marketing
- Projects
- Staff
Qualifications:
- Strong alignment with Christian Heritage’s vision, mission, and statement of faith
- A current or past participant in the homeschool community
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
- Ability to convey a vision of CH’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
- Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members, staff, and other volunteers
- Strong written and oral communication skills
