Sessions 1 – Becoming One
In Genesis 2, God gives a vision for marriage where a man will leave father and mother, cleave to his wife and the two will become one. In reality, many couples only experience the first two. They leave father and mother, and they “cleave” to one another in the sense that they build a life together, but they do not enter into spiritual unity and a shared mission with one another. This session will encourage you to capture a fresh vision for “becoming one.”
Session 2 – Barriers to Oneness
There are significant barriers to experiencing “oneness” in your marriage. It is a high priority of the enemy to keep you separated spiritually and in regards to your shared ministry. In this session we will identify some of these common barriers as well as biblical strategies to overcome them.
Session 3 – Pursuing Oneness
Unified marriages do not happen by accident. They are not the default setting. Drift and inattention will inevitably lead to spiritual separation and loneliness. This session will encourage you with practical, biblical approaches for pursuing oneness. With greater oneness comes greater joy and impact for the Kingdom.
Session 4 – The Mission of the Husband – Rob presents to the husbands
God created marriage as a relationship of “spiritual transformation” God desires to use the husband to spiritually transform and bless his wife, and the same for the wife to the husband. In this session, Rob will encourage the men to embrace three essential roles that God gives to husbands from Ephesians 5:26-27 – to love, serve, and lead.
Session 4 – The Mission of the Wife – Amy presents to the wives
Each spouse is called by God to help and encourage faith in the other. God calls Christian wives to help their husbands grow in godliness. In this breakout session, Amy will encourage the women to embrace this mission, and explore the biblical practices for wives to help, submit, and to respect their husbands.
Session 5 – The Power of Forgiveness
The intensity of the marriage relationship brings out sin and conflict. The Christian couple must become an expert in giving and receiving forgiveness. Unfortunately, some of the common teaching on forgiveness is often shallow and even unbiblical. In this session, Rob and Amy will equip couples with a Gospel driven game plan to give and receive true forgiveness.
Session 6 – The Kingdom Impact of Oneness
God created marriage and the family to build His Kingdom and advance the Gospel. In this final session, we will explore how God can use “ordinary” Christian families to impact future generations, and the world for Christ.
