In years past college was designed to give a man a ?liberal education,? to equip him to live as befits a free man. In our day it is more designed to prepare a man for a career. While living as free men and jobs may be good things, the real end of all education, as John Milton argued, is to repair the ruins of our first parents, to learn again to love God aright. This talk will explore how education is still discipleship, even in college, how we ought not prepare our children for the ?great conversation? but for the ?great confrontation,? the continuing battle between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, how what our children still need to know is God?s Word.
